Product description

Organic cold-pressed passion fruit seed oil, also known as maracuja oil, is a light plant oil for cosmetic formulations. The yellow oil has a pleasant, fruity natural odour and is characterised by its high linoleic acid content. Its light sensory profile is particularly suitable for formulations that call for a light skin feel.

The passion fruit seeds are a side stream of juice production and are processed into a cosmetic plant oil by gentle cold pressing. Because it is not refined, the oil retains its characteristic colour and fruity natural odour.

From a formulation perspective, the fatty acid profile is shaped in particular by linoleic acid, complemented by oleic and palmitic acid. This fatty acid profile makes passion fruit seed oil a versatile building block for light cosmetic oil phases. It can be used neat or as a component of oil blends, serums and emulsions.

The product is suitable for facial and body oils, serums, fluids, creams and lotions, massage oils and hair care formulations.

The term ‘cold-pressed’ means that the oil has been obtained by pressing without the application of external heat and then filtered. It is neither refined nor deodorised. The term gives no precise indication of the temperature actually reached.

Cold-pressed oils have a limited shelf life and – with a few exceptions – should not be heated to high temperatures.
