Product description
Organic extra virgin olive oil is a distinctive plant oil for cosmetic formulations. The golden yellow to greenish-yellow oil has a characteristic fruity olive odour and is suitable for formulation concepts in which the natural sensory profile of olive oil is to be deliberately retained.
The grade ‘extra virgin’ denotes the highest quality class of olive oil. Processing without refining preserves the oil’s characteristic natural odour, natural colour and typical accompanying substances.
From a formulation perspective, olive oil is characterised by its high proportion of oleic acid, complemented by palmitic, palmitoleic and linoleic acid. This fatty acid profile makes it a versatile building block for oil phases, oil blends and emulsions. Its pronounced natural colour and characteristic olive odour should be taken into account when developing the product and fragrance concept.
The product is suitable for creams and lotions, facial and body oils, hair care formulations, soaps and other cosmetic applications. For formulations with a more understated sensory profile, organic deodorised olive oil is also available.
