Product description

Cold-pressed organic safflower oil is a light plant oil for cosmetic formulations and is characterised by its high linoleic acid content. The golden-yellow oil with a very subtle nutty character is particularly suitable for care concepts that call for a light, quickly absorbed sensory profile.

The oil is obtained by gentle cold pressing from the seeds of the safflower (Carthamus tinctorius). Processing the oil as a virgin oil preserves its characteristic golden-yellow colour and subtle natural odour.

In formulation terms, the high proportion of linoleic acid is particularly relevant, complemented by palmitic and oleic acid. Safflower oil also contains tocopherol and vitamins A, E and K. This profile makes it a versatile formulation component for care concepts that call for a light oil phase and sensory profile.

The product can be incorporated into creams and light emulsions, skincare and bath oils, cleansing products, soaps and hair care formulations.

The term ‘cold-pressed’ means that the oil has been obtained by pressing without the application of external heat and then filtered. It is neither refined nor deodorised. The term gives no precise indication of the temperature actually reached.

Cold-pressed oils have a limited shelf life and – with a few exceptions – should not be heated to high temperatures.
