Product description
Cold-pressed neem oil is a distinctive speciality oil for cosmetic formulations. The yellowish-brown oil has an intense, spicy natural odour and, depending on temperature, ranges from viscous to liquid. Its natural accompanying lipid substances are characteristic, in particular limonoids, which set the oil apart from classic base oils.
The oil is obtained by gentle cold pressing of the seeds of the neem tree and then filtered. Because it is not refined, the oil retains its characteristic colour, intense natural odour and natural accompanying lipid substances.
From a formulation perspective, the fatty acid profile is shaped in particular by oleic and stearic acid, complemented by linoleic acid. Because of its pronounced sensory profile and natural accompanying substances, neem oil is typically used as a partial component and can be combined with base oils or incorporated into the oil phase of emulsions. Its intense natural odour should be taken into account when developing the fragrance concept.
The product is suitable for skin and scalp care formulations, hair oils, balms, soaps and other cosmetic formulations. Neem oil is also available as a cold-pressed organic grade.
