Black cumin seed oil, organic is a distinctive plant oil for food applications. The brownish oil is characterised by its intensely spicy natural aroma and taste and, owing to its pronounced sensory profile, is generally used sparingly.
The oil is obtained by gentle cold pressing from the seeds of black cumin (Nigella sativa). Virgin processing preserves the characteristic colour and the typical sensory properties of the oil.
The fatty acid profile is shaped in particular by linoleic acid, complemented by oleic acid, palmitic acid and eicosadienoic acid, which is characteristic of black cumin seed oil. The oil also naturally contains a proportion of essential oil.
Organic black cumin seed oil goes particularly well with recipes inspired by Middle Eastern cuisine. Owing to its intensely spicy and slightly bitter taste, it is usually used in small quantities.
