Babassu Oil

Description

Babassu oil is a light, whitish fat that melts on the skin.

Special Characteristics

Babassu oil has a very high solidification point that causes a cooling effect on the skin.
Solidification point: 21-25°C
Melting point: 22-26°C
Due to the high lauric acid-content babassu oil is similar to coconut fat but feels lighter.

Application Cosmetics

Babassu oil has incredible nourishing qualities, is absorbed quickly by the skin, makes the skin soft and has a cooling effect. Babassu oil is moisturising and non greasing. Thus the oil increases the skin's self protection. Babassu oil nourishes due to the high content of lauric and myristic acid that leave a protective layer on the skin. Babassu oil is good for nourishing baby skin as well as inflamed and acne-prone skin. Also the oil is a good massage oil due to its nourishing qualities.

Application Food

In the kitchen babassu oil is used as cooking fat and for making margarine. It is also popular for baking because of its mild taste.
